Hate it or love it, our grizzled hero is returning to the Land of 10,000 Championship Mistakes yet again. Donning that familiar purple number “4” jersey, I, of course, am talking about none other than Mr. Brett Favre.
No, the sky did not turn black and the moon blood red over the Midwest (namely Wisconsin). Instead, we received a modest Favre, accompanied by three fellow teammates, who stepped off a private plane and were subsequently ushered to Vikings’ camp headquarters. Apart from some heavily implied PR, no official word as to whether or not our senior sensation will in fact, be on this season’s roster, has been announced. As we all wait with bated breaths, we can only hope the 11-time Pro Bowler has decided to stave off old age for one (seemingly) last hurrah. Ankle surgery and a preseason training absence have left some of us with our doubts. For the majority, however, that skepticism was laid to rest the second he stepped down within the Purple perimeter.
As a die-hard fan, I can only hope the impending press conference will serve us all some much needed Viking vindication -- fingers crossed.
